- Blood donated here, stays here. Central Blood Bank services
43 area
hospitals and health care facilities in western Pennsylvania
and northern West Virginia.
- It is estimated that one-third of the population will need
blood or blood products in their lifetime. This means the work
you do here may one day benefit a family member, neighbor,
co-worker, a friend, or even you.
- When you help with the collection of blood, you are helping
people who are truly in need. Whole blood can help trauma
victims, such as people injured in automobile accidents. Blood
products such as plasma assists burn victims. Blood products are
used in heart surgery, organ transplants, for women with
complications during childbirth, newborns and premature babies,
and patients receiving treatment for a variety of illnesses,
including many cancers.
- Volunteering at Central Blood Bank benefits individuals of
every ethnic, social, religious, and economic background.
